The little girl in this is my favourite kid actor performance ever, she’s unbearably sweet and sincere. It’s almost like they ‘creature comforted’ her and made the film around shit she was just saying at home. The movie is set in a hospital / fantasy land in the 1920s, it is bizarrely big budget. It’s visually incredible and the performances are all really good. I preferred the scenes in real life but the other people in the room thought the fantasy stuff was better so I guess it could go either way.
This film is pretty long and probably made with kids in mind but it’s good for one of those wintery Sundays when you fried your brain with class A’s the night before and if you see anything too adult you might cry. Or, like, if you have kids….
