This film is like an elaborate cake. It’s sweet, interesting, addictive and good all the way through. Miranda July is the media assigned queen of ‘mumblecore’ but she’s also a deeply sincere, fearless filmmaker, writer and artist. Her work spans disciplines and it shows.
If you don’t enjoy all the dialogue and you’re not into arty, interesting films, you’ll still love the little kid so you’ll get your money’s worth (and the DVD cost 17 quid so that’s saying something).
Miranda July is my personal hero and hair twin and this is one of my favourite films ever.
So now you know.
