This is a too-little-known Mike Judge film and perfect for a hangover that wants entertaining but not mentally challenging. This movie will go really well with an extra large pizza and a mild spliff.
It’s a sci-fi comedy with Luke Wilson playing his usual dulcet nice guy and is set in a dystopian future where the human race has evolved into total fucking idiots. It has a suspiciously (litigiously) similar feel to Wall-E and some of the visuals are almost identical. Idiocracy is pleasingly comic book, similar to Sleeper or Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.
As you would expect from Mike Judge, it’s funny and has lots of – if not full on belly laughs – certainly wry smiles and contented guffaws. This is well paced for anyone feeling a bit dicey.
The only worrying thing about this film is how likely it is to be an highly accurate prediction for the future of the human race.
